Description: - The Belleville & District Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit business association that traces its origins back to 1864, when a group of local business leaders joined together to work for progress in the community. From that small group, the organization has grown to over 600 member businesses comprised of all sectors. The Board of Directors governs the Chamber; several Committees plan and carry out the work; a small full-time staff manages the day-to-day operations.
- The focus of the Chamber has remained basically unchanged for over 135 years. Providing a means for like-minded business people to get together to share ideas and concerns, the Chamber is able to harness their energy and talent to drive cooperative efforts for the betterment of the community. Economic and Social Development have benefited from these efforts, as the Chamber strives to improve the environment for business and for the community in general.
- VISION STATEMENT - To be recognized as the Voice of Business in promoting and nurturing a prosperous Belleville and district community.
- The Chamber of Commerce is the "front door" of the community, the place where people call or visit to find out more about Belleville and the Quinte area. When visitors or new residents come to town, this is their first stop. The Chamber staff is prepared with maps and printed information to respond to any question, and to make sure the visitor feels welcome here. First impressions are important and, it is said that, "a community is known by the Chamber of Commerce it keeps".
- The distinctive Log Cabin is home to the Chamber and the Information Centre. The building is old, but the communication technology inside is quite up to date, allowing the Chamber to respond to email enquiries as well as researching travel data over the internet. Members and local residents are able to utilize reference materials and travel information about other communities and Provinces at the Log Cabin. The Chamber strives to keep current directories of businesses, associations and government offices, and can usually direct people to other offices that can provide further assistance if needed.
